Premier Partners with JMU NP Program
Jamie Smith, Premier Geriatric Solution’s Chief Education and Compliance Officer and practicing Nurse Practitioner, has shared, “I am thrilled to announce Premier’s recent education affiliation agreement with James Madison University (JMU), my alma mater, to provide onsite clinical experience for students in JMU's Nurse Practitioner (NP) Program. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for both Premier and JMU, as we join forces to enhance the learning experience of future Nurse Practitioners while delivering high-quality medical services to our elderly population.”
Holly Roy, Premier’s Chief Operating Officer and a practicing Physician Assistant added, “At Premier, our purpose is to provide professional medical services to the residents of skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, and rehabilitation centers in Virginia, North Carolina, and beyond. We understand the unique challenges and complexities of caring for individuals with multiple chronic conditions, particularly in the post-acute/long-term care environment. We have experienced significant success through our PA program partnerships. By extending our preceptorship offerings with JMU's NP Program, we will also provide NP students with valuable hands-on experience in this specialized field of medicine.”
As a result of this education affiliation agreement, JMU NP graduate students will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced healthcare professionals and gain practical knowledge about providing medical services to patients with multiple chronic conditions. They will witness and engage in the comprehensive care management required for complex medical scenarios in post-acute/long-term care settings. By immersing themselves in this environment, they will develop critical skills, empathy, and a deep understanding of the specific needs of this patient population.
